Living Systems, Lasting Impact
At Sapat, sustainability isn’t a department. It’s a way of thinking and operating. Through nature-inspired thinking and collaborations, we support research, innovation, and field projects that foster resilience and systemic change across ecological, social, and technological domains.
LIFEL
We house the LIFEL Center, a global network of scientists, researchers, and solution designers committed to developing resilient, regenerative models for some of the world’s most pressing challenges – from food systems and public health to education, governance, and artificial intelligence.
LIFEL stands for Life, Energy-Cycles, and Language: three fundamental forces that govern all living systems, from molecular structures and species to societies and ecosystems. Drawing from nature’s intelligence, Lifel explores how living systems self-organize, adapt, and evolve, and then applies these patterns to create sustainable, scalable solutions for human challenges.
With physical centers in Nashik and Mumbai, LIFEL collaborates with scientists from leading institutions like MIT, Stanford, IIHS and the Ignite Foundation to advance cutting-edge research in sustainability, systems science, and regenerative design.
At Lifel, we look to nature not just for inspiration, but for instruction.
Mohadi Native Learning Forest
Situated within an active 15-acre industrial site, the Mohadi Native Learning Forest is a bold experiment in how biodiversity regeneration can coexist with industry. With over 16,600 native trees planted, it explores new approaches to creating thriving ecosystems alongside operational infrastructure.
Envisioned as a living education forest, the site will include an interpretation center where school children, researchers, and local authorities can learn about ecosystem interconnections, native species, and regenerative practices.
In collaboration with the Indian Institute for Human Settlements (IIHS), Mohadi is also a site of ongoing research into biodiversity regeneration, water systems, and ecological health, offering valuable insight into how industrial landscapes can support restoration without compromising productivity.
Why it Matters
We believe true sustainability lies in recognizing interconnectedness between people, planet, and business. Through LIFEL, Mohadi, and other ecosystem projects, we’re building systems that can learn, adapt, and last.
